Fothergilla 'mt airy' is a showy deciduous shrub that has great fall color and interesting fragrant flowers in a compact form. It prefers acidic soils with high organic matter that are consistently moist but with good drainage. Best flowering occurs in full sun but it tolerates part shade conditions.

This shrub grows as a multi-stemmed form with a rounded compact habit. It can spread by suckers, which can be removed if this is not desirable. The fragrant flowers appear before leaves in spring and last 10-14 days. Leaves are bright yellow to orange to red to purple in fall, colors often combined on the same leaf. Use as a specimen, in shrub borders, as a hedge or in a native garden. 3 gal
