A compact rounded evergreen with striking steel blue foliage, tends to become wider with age.
Globe Blue Spruce has attractive blue foliage which emerges silvery blue in spring. The needles are highly ornamental and remain blue throughout the winter. Neither the flowers nor the fruit are ornamentally significant.
Two options are available: Globe Blue Spruce High Graft is a dense evergreen dwarf TREE-FORM, selected and trained to grow in a small tree-like shape with the primary plant grafted atop a standard trunk. This form works particularly well in mixed plantings where shorter perennials can grow around the base.
The Globe Blue Spruce Low Graft is the exact same plant, but it is growing much closer to the ground appearing more like a traditional shrub. Both forms are grafted onto a stem of another type of spruce to keep them relatively small.
This is a low maintenance dwarf tree/shub. When pruning is necessary, it is recommended to only trim back the new growth of the current season, other than to remove any dieback, but pruning isn't generally needed. Deer don't particularly care for this plant and will usually leave it alone in favor of tastier treats. It has no significant negative characteristics. 18-24" ball and burlap
